Ava did way better than I thought she would. She was such a
big girl. She let the hygienist not only look at her teeth, but gave them a
cleaning and polish with fluoride. The dentist said Ava’s teeth look great;
they are a perfect shade of white, spacing is perfect, all teeth are in, 1
molar is still covered a tad. They only thing she is a bit concerned about is
Ava’s cross bite. It could be genetics, due to her pacifier, or Ava could have
been closing her mouth that way. The dentist will continue to monitor it. If it
remains she won’t address it until Ava has her permanent teeth.

Cousin Fun
We had a very busy Saturday. Ava had her Duran cousins (Mimi’s side of the
family) in from Cally plus we had a birthday party for her cousin Mia (Gramps
side of the family). We started the day off at a local pool in La Porte. This
was our 1st time there. It was great! It was perfect for all 5 kids we
had, ranging from 11 months to 4 years, since the max depth was 3 feet. There was
a beach entry, mushroom water fall, 2 small sides, dump buckets, and a splash
pad. Then we were off to Mia’s party where she got her face painted with a
green dinosaur and a dinosaur balloon (not surprised at all by her request of dinosaurs).
She can hang pretty much all day (weekends & on vacations) then nap
about 6. Sometimes it’s a short nap to recharge, but when she naps for 2 plus
hours we are in trouble and she stays up late.
On the same note, she can stay up pretty late when there is action going on.
She was a total crib/toddler bed baby, but now she can fall asleep with Ryan
and I in the bed. Doesn’t always happen. Only on vacations. I don’t want her to
get accustom to it.
If we wake up before her in the morning she will just get out of bed and
find us. She used to call out for us.
Vacations or weekends we can lay her down on the couch or bed for quite time/nap
and she will fall asleep on her own.
She gravitates to kids and wants to play with them. Doesn’t seem shy or stay
by our side.
She will tell us want she wants and doesn’t want something
Talking all the time. Sometime I wonder where she learns such big words or
how she knows the context of words.
We have good days and bad days potty training.
Starting to learn, understand and speak Spanish. We have 1-10 down, some
colors, and easy words (help, please, thank you, etc.)
Potty Training
We have been working on potty training at home and daycare. Friday when I picked Ava up from daycare she had a great potty training day. She still wore a pull up, but it stayed dry the whole day and she used the potty all day at school. So to celebrate we had ice cream.

Fathers Day at Diamond Beach
I will have to admit we rarely spend time with Ryan’s
family. So I decided this year we are going to start an annual Nixon tradition
with Grandpa Ricky and aunt Rach. We found Diamond Beach!! It’s a hidden gem in
Galveston. It didn’t feel like we were so close to home. We LOVED it. Personal note:
I hate Galveston water. I grew up so close and compared to other places we have
traveled I refuse to put Ava in Galveston water. So we didn’t even check out
the beach…. Why?, when we had an amazing pool and lazy river. Monday was the only day we left the resort to
go to Moody Gardens for the day & The Strand for dinner.
Next year we will stay longer!! We weren't ready to go home.
Ava's Homemade Pizza
What better way to wrap up your vacation than to make
homemade pizzas!!
Moody Gardens
There is no way Ava & I can do fun stuff without
inviting Gramps. Monday while Ricky & Ryan played golf at Moody Gardens, we
checked all the attractions. They currently have a Dinosaur exhibit and 3d
movie. So it was the perfect place to take Ava since she is “still” into
Dinosaurs. She really, really enjoyed it. She was a trooper the whole day. We
hit up everything, but the paddle boat.
Staring at her favorite Dinosaur.
Ready for the Movie
My future Paleontologist
Note: Her grip on her NEW Dinosaur.
She is pointing either saying, "Its so cute/pretty".
Here she was saying "Ava turn the wheel". Song from Dora The Explorer.

Summer Hair
Ava's hair was getting so long. It was 1/2 way down her back. So I thought it would be the perfect time to give her a Summer cut. Between swim once a week, the neighborhood splash pad/pool and our summer vacations I think shorter hair will be best for her and us.

New Habit
Ava has developed a terrible, noticeable habit. It just
started a couple weeks ago. She started to bit her nails. I’m not sure if she
is doing it because she sees us do it or if she is nervous/anxious. She does it
at home, I see her do it at school and her little nails are so short. All I
know is I hate it. I do not want her hands in her mouth. So this mama is on a
mission to find a nail biting polish and nip this problem in the bud.
