Wicked

This weekend I had a lovely evening out with my girls. We had a nice dinner downtown then went to see Wicked. It was an amazing show!!! I’m so glad we all have the same interest. There is no way I could have ever dragged Ryan to a musical.
On a side note: We have been doing really well getting Ava to sleep in her bed, BUT Saturday evening when I got home guess who was asleep in my bed?!? Ava! Ryan is such a sucker…the next morning when I asked him why was she in our bed; we were doing so good. He said Ava asked him to watch movies in mommy & daddy’s bed. I guess he just couldn’t refuse her request.

Hoolahan Wedding Shower

Ryan has been very blessed with a great group of High School friends and even more so The Hoolahan Family.
The Boyle's, Horstman's, and us hosted a Wedding Shower at what we remember as Casa Thomas. We (the wives) had a great time planning the wedding shower. The icing on the cake was a kid free weekend in Huntsville hanging out with old friends.
Patrick Hoolahan will marry Rachel Hurst on October 19th (we will be spending our 5 year wedding anniversary at a wedding).

The best things in life: Friends that are like family, and family that are like friends.

Whose Been Sleeping in my Bed

While we were on vacation Ava was sleeping with us in the bed. Now that vacation is over it has been a hard transition to get her back in her bed. It doesn't help that she sounds so darn cute asking us to sleep in our bed AND I love waking up to her.
Hopefully this week goes a little better...we need to stand our ground and not give in.

2 Plate Chunks

Lately Ava's daily report says she eats 2 plates ate lunch. Either she is going through a growth spurt or she loves what is on the menu.
Ryan and I laugh about what the teachers think. We can imagine her screaming out during lunch, "I want more and pointing at her plate." Ryan jokes with me and calls her Two Plate Chunks.

Karla Kay's Wedding Shower

I had a wonderful time at Karla’s soon to be “Karla Romo” wedding shower. Karla and I have been friends since High School.  She and our other friend Rochelle befriended me when I moved into their neighborhood in 9th grade. I have great memories with these girls and so glad we have stayed in touch throughout the years.

Annual July Family Vacation

Another one in the books! This year we went back to New Branfels and stayed at our favorite spot – Hideout on the Guadalupe. It’s the perfect location and has direct/private access to the river. Ava is at the perfect age to really enjoy vacations. This little girl stays up late, has fun all day and sleeps in. She had a great 1ST experience at. Schlitterbahn. She “again” refused to wear a life jacket/floaties so she stayed in the little kids area. This was also Ryan’s 1st experience at Schlitterbahn so I had to show him the whole park. He loved the rides!! We definitely plan to make the water park an annual stop. The remaining time was very low key. We floated the river and floated in front of our cabins. Ava finally put on a life jacket and she floated with us. She loved it and thought she was so cool/big girl.
I just LOVE good quality family time!
More pictures to come

Cousin CJ's 1st Birthday

Vacay in Full Force

Ava started her vacation Wednesday as soon as I picked her up from school. We left for my parents house where Ava and I would stay through next weekend. Ryan had to work the day after July 4th and would meet us in New Braunfels for our Annual Family Summer Vacation.
Ava had a blast!!
She helped Gramps in his garden.
We took her to Tutti Frutti for the 1st time.
I painted her little toes for the 1st time.

July 4th Fun

My dad and I took Ava to the town’s 4th of July Parade. Ava was not too thrilled about the heat or the loud noise from the sirens, but she sure did like the candy and popsicles they passed out.
Later that afternoon we enjoyed time with family at Mary and Chava’s. Ava is a little fish and not scared one bit. She loves the water and really thinks she can swim. She hates wearing a lifejacket or floaties. Scares this momma a bit, but Ryan loves his little daredevil. I can’t wait for her to learn more swimming technics at swim class and improve her skills.

Big Girl 2.5

Clothes size: 3T
Shoe size: 7 some 8
Weight: 33lbs
Diaper size: Pull Ups 3T-4T
Potty training. She has good days and will pee/poop then she has back days.  I know she can do it. I have to remind myself to be patient with her. It will happened when she is ready. For now, I refuse to take her anywhere in public in undies.
Foods: Ava is our little vegetarian.  She will clear her plate of all her fruits and veggies. The only meat she will eat is chicken.
Health: great!
Routine: week days daddy lets her sleep until about 7. She naps at noon for about 2 hours at school. In bed by 9. On the weekends is another story, we let her sleep until she wakes on her own; which is typically about 7:30. Unless she stays up way too late. She usually goes down for a later nap about 2 or 3 since we are pretty much on the go.
Sleep: sleeps like a champ!! Sleeps with 2 stuffed dinosaurs, a huge cow, a pink dolphin, a little tiger, and even some nights more. If we are missing even 1 stuffed toy when I put her in bed she will call out for it before I even leave the room. She still drinks a little bit of milk before bed time. I'm trying to cut it out altogether. Especially since we are focusing on potty training, but there is no rush since she is still sleeping in a pull up. Plus I feel terrible refusing her something to drink "if" she is indeed thirsty.
Milestones: NO...MORE..BABY (aka pacifier). I had about enough of the darn thing. I figured she is old enough and should not need it. So this past weekend, when she set it down I cut the tip off and put it back where she left it.  I was so worried what she would do when she found it, but it was not big deal. She brought it to me and said (in the cutest little voice), "Mommy, its broken. We go buy new one". I wanted to laugh out loud so bad but held it together. I told her, "Oh no Ava you broke it. Remember I told you no more baby when you break this one. " And there, that was it!!!! She never asked, whined, or cried for it again....not even at nap time or bed time. Success!! I should have down this way sooner. I guess now she is old enough to understand it doesn’t work and I don’t have it anymore.
Still bites her nails.
