Tea for Two

Mothers Day

Grandma Villa
at our annual Mothers's Day Brunch

We had a weekend full of festivities plus Ava was getting sick. So it was a long draining weekend. I took Ava to the doctor on Monday for her cough. The doctor noticed wheezing and put her on an inhaler. After listening to her breathing she checked her ears and throat. She noticed her throat was a little red so decided to swab for strep….and what do you know. Ava tested positive for the 3rd time. Both the doctor & I were in disbelief. She thinks Ava might be a carrier of the virus so wants us to come back in 2 weeks when Ava is healthy. We will swab for strep then & send off to the lab for testing.

The doctor assured me this isn't anything to be over worried about. Ryan or I must be a carrier & have passed it down to Ava (I bet it is me. I had strep a couple times in high school & the last time was about 4 years ago). Just like some people are carriers of staph, there are carriers of strep. Carriers have strep in their throats, but the bacteria does not make them sick. They just need to be treated differently when symptoms occur.

Big Girl

Lots of changes for Ms. Ava. She moved up a room at daycare & started gymnastics Tuesday evenings. Daycare seems to be a little harder on her then expected. She loves Ms. Hibaba & has been in the same room since she was 9 weeks. She was pretty spoiled in the infant room and thought she was the boss of the class.
Her 1st day in the new room was yesterday & Ms. Tammy said Ava took it very hard at 1st & didn’t want to stay in there. They tried once more & didn’t try again. Then today Ms. Hibiba went in the new room her & she adjusted a little better. Once Ava was acclimated to her new surrounds Ms. Hibiba snuck out of the room. I know it will only take time, then Ava will be the "boss" of this room too. Hahaha! I just hope she will love this room as much as her infant room. There are so many more kids to play with, more toys to play with, more learning & interaction oppurtunities and they play outside. I just hope she adjust well to sleeping on a mat.
Gymnastics on the other hand has been a blast for both Ava & I. I love watching her get so excited to be there. Her favorite activities are the trampoline, foam pit & climbing the mountain. She isn't scared one bit. Also, getting stamps on her hands at the end of class. Her least favorite has to be the beam & bars. These are more hands on & the coach helps out a lot (Ava likes to be independent) so Ava turns into a little terd.
