Another One is getting Married

Saturday evening we went to Mark and Angela’s wedding shower then out for a few drinks. It was GREAT to see everyone. I swear it has been forever since we have seen this group. Between work, family life and living far, far away Ryan and I hardly see old friends. A bonus is now The Shook’s literally live a few neighborhoods away. Yay! So we plan to see them a lot.

3rd Trimester

How far along: 28 weeks
Weigh gained: not sure…sometimes I’m not even sure how far along I am. Ava keeps me busy so this pregnancy is flying by. I go to the doctor Thursday so should find out. On a positive note, I’m still wearing my wedding rings. Unlike with Ava at this point I had to tuck them away.
Sleep: No problem here
Maternity Clothes: the only thing I'm wearing these days.
Movement: all the time and pretty strong. He moves so much.
Belly button in or out: starting to look a little flat.
What I miss: running and wine
Craving/favorite foods: I crave Whataburger bacon burger. Crazy!! As I don’t usually like fast food or hamburgers. I have even got up in the middle of  the night to eat Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal. Other than regular meals and the occasional cereal in the middle of  the night I don’t snack much during the day
Milestones: 3rd trimester!! Yay
Best moment this past month: passed my glucose test. My number was even better than with Ava (I think it was 126 or 129). Baby #2 has a name. Nathan (Nate) Daniel Nixon. Registered at the hospital.
Looking forward to: 3d ultra sound, finishing up his room and our family-moon.

Art Project

Today Houston basically shut down due to weather conditions of ice on the roads and temps in the high 20s/low 30s. So it was the perfect day for Ava and I to work on an art project for her room. It was super cheap, easy and will look great in her room.

Moving on up...level 4 swim

We took some time off from swimming around Christmas. It was either too cold or class was canceled since she goes on Wednesday and Christmas &  New Year's Day were both that day. So, when we returned to swim Ava needed a little more time to adjust to class. Particularly putting her head under the water. Needless to say it took a couple weeks for her to get back all her skills/I think confidence in the water to move up to Level 4 Swim, but she did it!!! Last night she received her Level 3 ribbon and will start Level 4 Swim Class next week. She was 1 excited little girl and can’t wait to wear goggles. In level 4 they focus more on underwater swim so we promised Ava once she moved up she could pick out a pair of goggles.

Ava's 3rd Birthday Party

We decided this year to have Ava’s birthday party after all the holiday craziness and to have it on our side of town so we could invite all her little buddies. We were very pleased with The Little Gym. They did all the work. We just sat back and watched the kiddos play. Ava had a good turn out too! All her little buds from our street and close family friends were there. Ava had a BLAST! So much so I’m going to try out the Free Introduction Class and if all goes well enroll her this Spring.

Ringing in the New Year

We had a super relaxing NYE and New Year’s Day. Ryan had NYE off so enjoyed a round of golf and drinks with a neighbor. I got off work early so indulged in me time by getting a mani and pedi. Then I picked up Ava and we had an ice cream date. That evening Ryan cooked a delicious meal: steak, mashed potatoes and asparagus. Ava and I were in bed by 10:30. However, I was woken up at midnight by neighbors popping fireworks and noticed Ryan was enjoying an evening on the patio with a glass of wine and cigar watching the fireworks from across the lake.

New Year’s Day Ava and I woke up bright and early. I made us breakfast and noticed Ryan not only had A glass of wine, but almost 2 bottles. So needless to say he had a rough day. Lol! Ava and I stayed in our pajamas most the day. We played, made cookies, I even worked on her scrap book, cooked the traditional black eyed peas and cabbage and even ran an errand. Ryan and I also set some goals and planned vacations for 2014.

Looking forward to 2014!!
