Gabby is ONE

Sweet Gab-ster (as Ava calls her) / Baby Gabby (as Nathan calls her) had her 1st birthday party a month late. She actually turned 1 on 4/6 but baby sister Emily was born and Christine/family needed time to smooth all that over.
It was a beautiful day for the pool and crawfish. Ava attempted to go in the deep end of the pool and Gramps had to go in with all his clothes to get her. Sheesh! Once floaties were on both kids we all had a great time. Good thing we start private swim lessons in June.

Spanish Program - Toddlers

Nathan had his Spanish performance and boy what a train wreck. This was the 1st year they included the Toddler class and probably the last. I think all of them just stood there and about half cried.
Nathan lead his class in but once he saw Ava and I he started crying. So he sat with us the rest of the performance.

And just like that THIS happens...

My baby girl is registered for school! How can this be! How has 5 years of her little life gone by?! She was excited about visiting her school and thrilled to find out about Shadow the Hubenak Husky. Me on the other hand, I'm not ready for her to grow up.

Chef Ava

Sunday we usually grill. Rain or Shine. I eat fish, Ryan eats steak, Nathan eats anything and Ms. Ava well she is still on a no meat kick. So this Sunday she decided to make her own meal. Tortillas with beans in cheese baked in a cupcake sheet. It was actually pretty tasty and at least she ate all her dinner. It wasn't sushi, grilled cheese or noodles.

Quick Trip to LP

Ryan once again was out of town (he owes me BIG TIME). He went to Huntsville to play in his fraternities Golf Tournament AND it was Silly Grandpa's Birthday. He played in the tournament too. So after Ava's Soccer Game my parents helped me load up 2 kids and 2 dogs. We spent a quick trip in LP for  the night.
Ava and I visited Ms. Gabby and Ms. Emily.

Soccer Saturday

Ava has had a Fan Club each Saturday. Last Saturday was Grandparents Games. So my parent and Tia Aida came. This Saturday my parents, Tia Aida and Tito came. 2 of Ava's Teammates have broken arms and 1 missed so she played a lot. There are a total of 8 kids on the team. Only 5 were there. They rotate 4 in at a times. Ava scored 1 goal and blocked 5 goals. My little Super Soccer Star. On a funny note Tia Aida was chasing Nathan and trying to get him before he ran into the mud.....well Tia Aida slipped in the mud and landed on her butt. It was hilarious!

Family Date Night

We opted to take the kids to dinner Friday Night. We didn't plan out dinner and I had ran 5 miles after work before picking up the kids so I was exhausted to say the least. We called this "Nixon Family Date Night". We went to Chili's. For the most part the kids were good and we might make Nixon Family Date Night a reoccurring event.

Houston Flood 2016

I huge storm hit Houston and rained for like 12 hours straight. We went to sleep Sunday to it raining and woke up to more rain. Houston streets were flooded. The kids school and my work were closed. So we spent most of the day in our PJs, watched movies and did nothing but play.

Nathan's 2yr Checkup

Bottom line Nathan is huge.
Size: 3t - 4t
Shoe size: 6
Diaper size: 5 and taking interest in the potty. We bought a boys urinal. Before bath he will stand in front of it but has not followed through. He always lets us know when he goes poo. He will hid then find us and say, "I got poo" and laugh.
Sleep: he sleeps so well...like 11 hours a night. He has to go to sleep with Big Mickey every night. He also has a bed full of little Mickeys, a Minnie and now a baby Goofy. Before bed I will give him some milk and rock him in the glider. When he is finished with milk he will turn towards me and let me rock him. Once he is ready to lay down he will say, "Night. Night bed".  Most nights I say, "Night. Night Mama" and he will let me hold him a little longer. I love this time with him. When I go to lay him down I always say, I love you. Night. Night. See you in the morning". Then he will say, "I love mommy". Oh just melts my heart.
Independent: Nathan brushes his teeth (then we follow up on the brushing). He sits at the table with us and eats like a champs. Loves food! Climbs into the car seat and buckles himself. Plays hard with Ava. Swings on his belly. Jumps on the trampoline. Hit the baseball tee like a big boy. Smacks the heck out of it. He love to throw his football.
Always says, "I do it".
Academics: He knows his ABCs, count to 10, all his primary colors, animals, vocabulary is great, speaks well, loves to read, sing songs and dance.
Things I want to remember:
His cute little face when he smiles.
His tight hugs
His dancing. His "Mikly" dance he does when he wants milk.
His sweet comments. I like it. I love it.
How he calls Timmy, Yimmy
He loves to do everything Ava does and will try.
How he will sit and chill on his chair or in Ava's bed to finish his milk in the morning or after school.
His phrases: Big dat one. Little dat one.  Monkeys over there. Roar!
I love hearing him say "Sissy", "What mommy", "Hold my hand".

Gramps to the Rescue

Ryan left for a Golf Tournament on Wednesday and just my luck on my way home there was a Gas Leak so the HWY and Feeder were closed. It took me 2 hours to get home. Luckily Gramps headed to our side of town. He was there when I got home with the kids and had dinner. He helped me out Thursday by taking the kids to school and picking them up. We even had a date night at our favorite Sushi Restaurant. Friday I was off so we spent the day having fun. We took the kids to the Sugar Land Museum (never again. it was so small and not worth the money) and to see Jungle Book (great movie).

Nathan's 1st Movie

Nathan was 100% better and I had been promising Ava that we would go see Zootopia. This was Nathan's 1st movie. He did great sitting in the chair until he got tired and wanted to sit in my lap. Then passed out. I guess he wasn't that into it. However, Ava enjoyed it and laughed a lot. It was a cute movie.

Soccer Saturday -Thunder & Lightning #6

I have been waiting for this day!! I'm so glad Ava loves sports and is competitive. What makes it even better is she is GOOD. I'm not just gloating. Our little girl is the fastest on the team, aggressive, and hates to loose. She scored 2 goals. We were so Proud of her.
Ava's #1 Fan

Ava's Fan Squad

Nathan's is 2

Nathan's birthday was shadowed by Big Sisters 1st Soccer Game. But good  thing all the grandparents were in town to watch so were also there for his day too. I made it special by baking him cupcakes and had a few gifts. He was only interested in the unwrapped baseball bat. Ryan had to get that open 1st. So Ava helped....well opened the rest of his gifts.

Nathan's 1st case of Strep

The day before Nathan turned 2 I get a call from his school that he had a blow out. If he has 2 more they will need me to pick him up. Well 30 minutes later it was lunch AND Chick fil A day. Nathan LOVES Chick fil A day. When they noticed him not eating his teacher knew something was wrong so took his temperature. It was 101.6. So I get another call to pick him up.
Once I got there he was passed out and his cheeks were bright red. I thought this was very strange since he was fine the day before and Ryan said he was fine that morning and even had kolaches. I took him to Kids Urgent Care where he tested positive for Strep. My 1st thought was  the weekend will be rough. When Ava used to get Strep she was out for the count. Didn't eat, hard to please, a grouch, and only wanted me. Boy was I wrong! I gave Nathan Tylenol he took a nap and woke up ready to play. We started his antibiotic that evening. Strep didn't phase this kid. However, he ran a low fever Saturday morning, but he was eating again.

Nathan's 2nd Birthday Party

Our sweet little man celebrated his birthday with a Golf Themed Par-Tee at Mimi and Gramps. We made hotdogs and ordered sandwiches. The weather was perfect. We enjoyed all the party festivities out doors. There was plenty of family and a few family friends. Nathan and Ava truly enjoyed the day running around barefoot playing with all their cousins.
